26. & 27.01.23 – 20th Innovation Forum for Automation

Euraxess

The 20th Automation Network Dresden was held on January 26th and 27th in Dresden. The event provided a platform for over 300 international executives, managers, engineers, and researchers to explore the latest advancements, challenges, and solutions in factory automation technology. In addition to professional growth, it also offered a welcoming and open environment for networking and exchanging ideas with fellow automation enthusiasts.

Holger Brandl (SYSTEMA GmbH) presented some results of our joint research in the AISSI project. His talk "Optimizing Semiconductor Production Using AI and Scheduling to Balance Competing Goals" focused on the process and methodology for implementing AI in execution planning for a semiconductor fabrication. We demonstrated how we are using meta-heuristics, simulation, digital twin technology, and AI in AISSI to enhance manufacturing efficiency. Specifically, we addressed the challenge of finding the optimal balance between conflicting objectives. During a lively panel discussion with other speakers, the difficulties of implementing AI on the shop floor were discussed.
